We are Gino and Duane, and we are the proud owners of Cholo's Kitchen, Peruvian Cafe.

Gino comes from Tumbes, Peru. It is the northernmost and most equitorial region of Peru. It's the kind of place where the Jasmine sents the air all night, and you pick your own mango for breakfast in the front yard. Tumbes is known in Peru for its abundantly fresh seafood, wildlife rich mangroves and year-round beaches. In fact, Gino owned a restaurant on the beach there a decade ago, which he has recreated here in Westchester. He is happy to present Northern Peruvian style dining, with its unique history and style, to all the people of Southern Westchester. Ninty percent of what you see inside and outside the restaurant is Gino's vision. (You can tell he has worked with flowers and plants for years.)

The recipes used at Cholo's Kitchen come to us from Gino's mother and Grandmother. Very tropical, very fresh.

Gino is joined in the kitchen by his mother Elizabeth . She is from Tumbes and is now helping Gino make the dream come true in New Rochelle. The rest of the staff is mostly Peruvian, not all.

Duane came from the midwest many years ago, and has done many things, but never helped run a restaurant before. The only non-Peruvian here, and the best English speaker, Duane handles more of the paper and telephone responsibilities involved with Cholo's Kitchen. As well as this web-site.
